A partnership with the U.S. Navy SEALs inspires three stealthy additions to the Panerai Submersible collection, including one that sends you to boot camp.

Panerai (panerai.com) lore is deeply enmeshed with military history, having created dive instruments and watches for the Italian navy during the early part of the 20th century. Building upon that legacy today is a rugged capsule collection of three watches that draw on the venerable history of the United States Navy Sea, Air and Land Teams, commonly known as Navy SEALs. Each timepiece reference is part of the Submersible collection—dive watches with specialized diving features—and was developed with the approval of the elite military force.

The Submersible GMT Navy SEALs GMT will be available in a 44 mm steel case or the proprietary Carbotech composite. Both versions feature an in-house movement (the P.900 caliber) that displays the hours, minutes, small seconds, date and a second GMT time zone, all backed with a three-day power reserve. Waterproof to 30 bar, these watches can dive as deep as 300 meters. But a third version of the watch, the Panerai Submersible Navy SEALs Experience, takes the concept of a luxury one-of-a-kind experience to an entirely new level.

First off, the flyback chronograph Navy SEALs Experience watch features the robust in-house caliber P9100/R, which displays hours, minutes and small seconds. Plus, there’s a flyback chronograph, countdown timer on the dial and a seconds reset with three days of power reserve. The DLC-coated titanium case makes it a tough watch, one ready to handle rough conditions, water resistant to 30 bar (or 300 meters). And with the purchase of this particular watch, challenging conditions are coming your way.

Limited to only 20 pieces, Panerai guarantees “each purchaser will receive access to an adventure that will immerse guests in the history of the Navy SEALs and grant rare, firsthand exposure to the rigorous physical, emotional and mental demands of SEAL training.”

A little background: The Navy SEAL training program is one of the world’s most difficult human conditioning and military training tests. Students overcome obstacles during this program to test their stamina, teamwork and leadership. For every 1,000 people who start Navy SEAL training, only around 200 to 250 succeed. Taken as a group to an undisclosed location in Florida, each “mission member” will confront and transcend personal limits under the guidance of some of the world’s most tenacious warriors. Details of Panerai’s “mission” are being kept top secret, but the retired SEALs involved promise some incredibly realistic encounters.
The SEALs are famous for saying, “The only easy day was yesterday,” “Get comfortable being uncomfortable,” “Move, shoot, communicate,” and “Don’t run to your death.” Would you have what it takes?
